Digicel PNG announces purchase of ICT provider

Digicel PNG has acquired information and communication technology (ICT) provider AllcomMcr, the telecommunications company has announced. 
AllcomMcr has been providing IT and network support services in Papua New Guinea for eight years, providing service to clients in industry sectors including, resources, finance and government. 
According to a statement, AllcomMcr had invested in local resources and in developing partnerships with leading vendors including Cisco, Microsoft, Citrix, VMWare and Veeam 
Digicel Business Solutions Pacific head of ICT, Gary Cobain said: “With AllcomMcr’s combination of expertise and experience and Digicel’s network capability and country wide presence, the acquisition is expected to result in greater efficiencies.
“AllcomMcr’s services are highly beneficial to our customers.” 
AllcomMcr managing director Luke Byer said: “Rapid advances in communications technologies, applications, hardware infrastructure and networking means customers want a provider that is agile, attentive and a one stop shop to meet all their ICT needs.”
The acquisition would see both organisations develop new and enhanced product and service offerings. 
The combination of technology, skills and products would provide AllcomMcr and Digicel customers a range of ICT options. 
Solutions include network architecture and optimisation, server and desktop virtualisation, auditing, centralised monitoring and management, mobility solutions, internet services and security.
