Digicel PNG is now charging K3 for the Facebook Free Mode. This means Digicel Customers can access the Facebook Free Mode every K3 recharge..
Digicel is offering customers two days access to its Facebook Free Mode offer when they recharge from just K3. The option to switch to free Facebook was officially launched by Digicel in July, giving PNG customers access to some of the key features of Facebook free of charge. Free Mode allows smartphone users to browse Facebook messages; comment, share, like or tag someone; and even send photos via Facebook Messenger at no cost. When customers top up from just K3, they will have up to two days’ access to the service. Once they recharge or top up again, their two-day access restarts. Digicel is the only telecoms operator in PNG to provide this free Facebook service to its smartphone users, thus giving thousands of people the opportunity to continuously stay connected and keep in touch with friends and loved ones. Facebook Free Mode is accessible via smartphone Facebook apps or on Facebook.com when attached to the Digicel network. Digicel Managing Director Mobile, Shivan Bhargava, said the company’s PNG customers had embraced the Free Mode option. “We are fully aware that a large number of PNG mobile phone users have a smartphone, yet not all are in a position to access Facebook,” he said.
“The option to switch to Free Mode is delivering a lighter version of the full Facebook experience with no data costs attached. “Free access to one of the most popular internet platforms in the world is another example of Digicel’s genuine commitment to deliver best value and the latest communication services to all Papua New Guineans. “Digicel is continually broadening our services and offering more options for people to communicate.” Facebook Free Mode is only available to customers for two days when they recharge with K3 or more. Customers who do not recharge their plan within two days of their last recharge will be charged at the standard data rate.
