India's bid to power PNG using Solar Technology

India is now the fifth largest producer of renewable energy in the world. They are the fourth largest in Wind Energy and fifth largest producer of Solar Energy.
And India is now offering feasibility studies, at the government of India’s cost, to prepare complete project proposals for solar electrification in PNG.
These projects will be funded by EXIM Bank of India Lines of Credit on easy terms.
Indian High Commissioner Vijay Kumar said EXIM Bank of India’s total credit stood at more than US$24 billion, which includes $100 million to PNG. “I am sure this is a positive beginning,” he said.
“We agree also apart from this solar assistance to support setting up of pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in PNG with EXIM Bank of India line of credit. India is willing to set up AYUSH wellness centres in PNG to complement existing healthcare facilities in this country. AYUSH comprises India’s traditional healthcare systems.
“India will assist Port Moresby General Hospital in its efforts to set up a cancer centre.
“We are again ready to provide anti-retro viral drugs worth close to US$1 million for treatment of HIV/AIDS patients in PNG.
“I can assure you, as PNG marches in its journey towards development and prosperity, India will remain a trusted partner, working closely with PNG for the economic and social empowerment and growth of its people.
“I consider today’s event as an important component of our joint effort to strengthen India-PNG business relations and a step forward in this process.”Post Courier
