Hardware failure affects BSP Electronic Banking Services

A HARDWARE failure on one of Bank South Pacific’s switching systems in PNG  has affected the bank’s electronic banking services on Friday, chief executive officer Robin Fleming says.
Fleming said they implemented disaster recovery back up services which involved restoring of data bases and pre-implementation testing.
“BSP experienced a hardware failure on one of our servers at around 10.54am (on Friday) that hosts the switching system that is used for our electronic banking services,” he explained.
“This affected our electronic banking services, including automated teller machines (ATMs), Eftpos terminals and mobile banking.
“We initiated implementation of our disaster recovery back-up servers which involved restoration of data bases and pre-implementation testing.”
Fleming apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
