Declare PNG Government Websites, Social Media sites

The Papua New Guinea Government departments and public authorities have been given until July this year to declare their websites and social media accounts to avoid being taken down.

Department of Information and Communication Technology is undertaking this exercise after the National Executive Council endorsed the PNG Digital Transformation Policy and Government Communication Strategy recently.

Department Secretary, Steven Matainaho, has advised Departmental Heads and Head of Public Authority to declare all their respective domain names, websites, and social media accounts before midday July 30.

He says the social media accounts include blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube/Flickr, Linked In, and Instagram.

The ICT department will publish a list of all official government social media accounts on the department website starting August 2nd, 2021.

After that, it will immediately contact the respective social media company, and formally request the take-down of accounts that do not make the published list.
