PNG Women Entrepreneurs engage in e-Commerce Online Training

The first batch of Papua New Guinea women entrepreneurs engaged in a two-day E-Commerce Online Training from September 28-29.

The objective of the training was to equip Women In Small and Medium Enterprise’s (WSMEs) with better understanding of eCommerce platforms in Papua New Guinea as a marketing tool to sell their products and services to enhance business profitability.

Session topics included What is E-Commerce, Understanding E-Commerce, Trust Framework, Jungle E-Commerce Platform, PGo! E-Commerce Platform, Hausples E-Commerce Platform and Social Media Marketing.

Session presenters presented their respective topics to the women participants online highlighting the importance of using online tools to market their products better plus awareness on how other established ecommerce platforms were doing business using online resources.

The fifty WSME’s participants were excited to learn about the importance of eCommerce in PNG and how best they can utilize the different eCommerce platforms to sell their products and services.

Most said it would be out of their comfort zone of doing marketing but it’s worth the trail as PNG is now moving fast into the digitalized economy. Thus, having eCommerce as a new marketing platform is the way forward for them as a business owner.

The online training program is initiated by the #AsianDevelopmentBank (ADB) and Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) and implemented by the #CEFI Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion (CEFI).

The ‘Training and Mentoring Program for Women-Led Businesses’ is a three-part training program which aims to coach at least 170 urban based women small and medium-sized entrepreneurs (WSMEs) with strong growth potential.

The second E-Commerce training will be held from 9-10 November. For more information on the online training email
