PNG ITI donates computers to support ICT learning at Port Moresby school

PNG-based education institution International Training Institute (ITI) has donated five computers to Twinky Winky International School in Port Moresby to help students strengthen their information and communication technology skills.

The presentation took place yesterday at the ITI Badili Campus, where students, teachers and representatives from the school gathered with ITI chairman and co-founder Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval and staff members for the handover ceremony.

Mr Sentheyval said the institute remained focused on supporting schools and surrounding communities through educational assistance programs.

“We’re here to help. Last year, we’ve given some free computers to a church,” he said.

He said the latest donation would assist students in developing practical computer knowledge and improve access to digital learning at the school.

“This is just a start. In the future, we’ll be giving more computers because we have,” he said.

Mr Sentheyval also spoke about the rising cost of computers, saying replacing equipment with new units was becoming increasingly expensive. Despite the challenges, he said ITI would continue carrying out community support activities, including sponsorships in sports and education.

He also assured school representatives that ITI’s technical staff would help install and set up the computers for student use.

Grade 8 student Amy Jane Hasu thanked the institute on behalf of the students and said the support would help learners prepare for the future.

“On behalf of the students, I would like to sincerely thank ITI Badili for empowering us and for providing computers to support our learning. Your generosity is giving us the chance to build important skills and prepare for the future,” she said.

“We are truly grateful for the support and we promise to make the most out of this opportunity.”
