PNG's Divine Word University Launches New Website to Strengthen Digital Services

Divine Word University in PNG  has unveiled a redesigned website as part of its ongoing digital transformation, providing a new online platform aimed at improving access to information and strengthening communication with students, staff, alumni and the wider PNG community.

The launch, held at the university's Madang campus, marks a major investment in DWU's digital infrastructure as the institution continues to modernise its services and expand its online engagement with academic partners and stakeholders.

The website was developed under the Office of the Vice President for Planning and Development, led by Julie Ruene, through the DWU Marketing Division as part of the university's strategy to improve its digital presence and service delivery.

University executives, staff, students and invited guests attended the launch ceremony to witness the official unveiling of the new platform.

Opening the event, Marketing Division Director Deborah Pranis described the launch as an important development that would improve how the university communicates with those connected to the institution.

DWU President Professor Fr. Philip Gibbs said the new platform would better reflect the university's identity while showcasing its academic achievements and long-term vision.

He said the website would provide a stronger platform to promote quality education, research, community engagement and the university's Christian values.

Speaking on the development process, Website Development Manager Apsie Tese said the project took almost seven months to complete. He thanked the university's executive leadership for their confidence in the project team and acknowledged the work of the previous website developers who established the foundation for the new system.

Mr Tese also recognised campus administrators, faculties, content contributors and the Information and Communication Technology team for their support throughout the project.

Website Team Lead Bernard Antwi-Gyimah encouraged users to provide suggestions that would help improve the platform as it continues to evolve.

ICT Director Benjamin Cheong said the website would strengthen the university's ability to communicate and deliver services in an increasingly digital environment. He also praised the combined efforts of the Marketing Division's website team and ICT staff in delivering the project.

The ceremony concluded with Professor Fr. Philip Gibbs joining the website development team for a live demonstration following an official countdown, showcasing the platform's updated design, simplified navigation and enhanced features.

"This new website gives us an opportunity to tell the DWU story more clearly—a story of quality education, research, community engagement, Christian values, and integral human development. It allows us to share our programs, our achievements, our services, and our hopes for the future."

"The launch marks a significant step in the University's journey towards digital transformation. The new website builds upon the foundation of the previous platform while preparing for future integrations. Our team remains committed to strengthening DWU's presence in the digital space and ensuring the platform continues to evolve to meet the University's future needs."

"The website is not the end of the journey but the beginning of continuous improvement. We welcome constructive feedback as we continue to refine, optimize, and enhance the platform to provide a better digital experience for everyone."
