Facebook features dropped on PS3, Vita and PlayStation TV

Facebook features are being dropped on PlayStation 3, Vita, and PlayStation TV.

The official app for Vita and the microconsole are due to be discontinued, and features integrated within each of Sony's consoles are being removed.

The apps have been removed from the PlayStation Store and support is set to end completely by January next year, although Sony notes that this date may change "depending on circumstances".

"In January 2016, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. will terminate support for the Facebook features integrated within the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita systems, as well as the Facebook applications for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV," said Sony in a statement.

"In anticipation of this change, the Facebook applications will no longer be available for download from PlayStation Store as of September 15, 2015.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding."

In other Facebook news, the social network is developing a 'Dislike' button, something that PS3, Vita and PlayStation TV owners would no doubt make good use of right now.
