Did we just hear digital Economy for Papua New Guinea? So the PNG Digital Commerce Association will help the Papua New Guinea Government develop the digital economy, that's according to the president Isikeli Taureka.
As it was in the news “The association will bring together individuals and organisations in the private sector working in the information technology and communication sector,” he said.
He said there were many interest groups in the sector.
“We want to bring them together to share best practices and help the Government shape policies for the digital economy,” Taureka said.
The association will urge the Government to develop a digital economy road map over the next four years so that businesses will have a clear view of how to develop infrastructure, train workforce and create opportunities.
The association was launched on Tuesday by Information Technology and Communication, Energy Minister Sam Basil and Bank of PNG governor Loi Bakani at The Stanley Hotel and Suites in Port Moresby.
The founding members of the association are Bank of PNG and Denton’s Lawyers.
At the launching of the association, Basil highlighted PNG’s determination to join the digital age.
He also revealed a plan to introduce a legislative and regulatory framework for bitcoin.
