Mobile Phone Companies in PNG given 3 months grace period for SIM registration

Mobile Network Companies (Digicel, Bemobile and Telikom will be given 3 months grace period starting on the 23rd of July to register new SIM Card users.
Failure to comply will result in a K50, 000 fine for not registering a single subscriber.
This was made known by NICTA today during the Internet Filtering and Information and the Integrated Government Information Systems Policy Workshop of the Censorship Office and the Department of Communication and information.
NICTA CEO Charles Punaha revealed that as per the SIM Card regulatory, children aged 12 and above are eligible to subscribe or register for a SIM Card to use mobile phones and one single user is only allowed to have six SIM Cards registered to use.
