TELIKOM (PNG) Limited has announced the completion of its High Capacity Network (HCN). The HCN has been designed to deliver more capacity and improved reliability of service offering seamless broadband experience to users both retail and corporate. The firm said in a statement that resource companies operating within the LNG corridor together with the remote and rural communities in the rugged terrains that rely heavily on satellite communications will now have access to this national transmission link.
Local engineers had worked alongside the global vendor-Aviat Networks Limited to build this infrastructure. “The team achieved a milestone building the longest hop in the Pacific Region spanning 142.12 kilometres between Mt Favenc and Mt Uro in Gulf in the third and final phase. “Our local engineers were able to achieve 100 per cent link alignment between the two sites at that distance to provide spot on receive signal level between the two towers,” the firm stated. Telikom’s Radio Project manager Paose Are said while engineers continue to tweak and optimise the links for optimal performance, redundancy testing carried out has so far produced positive results. Mr Are said emphasis is now on completing the microwave link between Lae and Madang the microwave link. He said the team had handed over the network documentation to the regional network teams in Goroka, Mt Hagen, Lae and Madang following the completion of the project and had thanked all those involved.
