PNG Kumul Consolidated Holding (KCH), in support of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Justice & Attorney General, Davis Steven’s initiative to drive engagement across the ICT sector in PNG, announced the establishment of an innovation center Kumul Technology Limited (KTL).

Chief Operating Officer of KCH, Gary Seddon, explained in a presentation, that KTL is a government initiative that will ultimately provide a conduit of funded engagement between PNG ICT entrepreneurs and State-owned enterprises and government agencies.

A digital sandbox will be available to allow PNG ICT vendors the opportunity to bid for funded programs of work, and then develop, implement and deliver those to SOEs and state agencies, among others. A key outcome is the accelerated growth of our PNG based tech fraternity. KTL will also establish an innovation center – a work lab environment conducive for application solution development.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that this initiative, through KCH, is an indicator of this governments commitment to investing in a ‘homegrown’ digital future for PNG.

“Together we will create the Silicon Valley of the Pacific,” the deputy PM said.
