The ads.txt stands for Authorized Digital Sellers that helps to ensure that website owners are running ads that they have authorized through their account. According to Google, "Creating your own ads.txt file gives you more control over who is allowed to sell ads on your website and helps prevent counterfeit inventory from being presented to advertisers"
It is therefore recommended that weebly website owners should implement ads.txt on their weebly website. This will help get genuine advertisers on their weebly sites and eventually increase their earnings.
- Fix ads.txt issues in Adsense
In your adsense account you should get the following warning that alerts you that your weebly website is vulnerable to fake inventories (advertisement) from appearing.
According to Google, this will have negative impact on your earnings if you do not rectify it. So you need to follow the steps below to add ADS.TXT file on the root of your weebly site.
The Good News is that you can fix this issue on your weebly sites.
- How to Create ads.txt file for your Weebly website.
Thanks to Adsense, as it provides personalized ads.txt file that can be downloaded and installed on any weebly website. You simply download the file and upload it. Follow the steps below
- Sign into your adsense account
- If you have warning alert (see diagram above), click on Fix now .
- click the Down arrow to open the "Create an ads.txt file for ..." message.
- Click Download and your ads.txt file should be auto downloaded onto your computer.
- Now upload the ads.txt file to the root directory of your weebly website but weebly does not allow access to Root Directory to weebly site owners but you can achieve this easily by following the steps below.
- How to Upload ads.txt file in weebly Root Directory
Note that the root directory of a website is the directory or folder following the top level domain (example.com/ads.txt) and this is where things go complicated for weebly site owners as weebly does not give access to Root Directory to weebly site owners. However, in Weebly's latest updates, you can only upload a file that goes/points directly to the Root Directory and this is good news for weebly site owners who run ads. Below are steps to archive this.
- Sign into your weebly account and go to Settings.
- Under settings, scroll further down and you should be able to see Authorise Adsense settings as shown below. You should be able to paste your ads.txt file here.
- Unpack the ads.txt file you downloaded through your adsense account. Since Adsense already personalized the ads.txt content based on your Adsense ID, simply copy the code and paste it in the weebly site settings as mentioned in the diagram above.
- Makes sure to hit the Save and publish your site. Thats it! your ads.txt file is now installed on your weebly site.
