The PNG Education Department has announced the top performing schools in the country. Only Top 15 schools were announced for the Grade 10 and Grade 12 categories. The Grade 8 Schools and FODE schools were not considered. This was because the Grade 8 Exams are provincial functions and FODE Exams are run independently from the national examinations.
Some private schools though they were ranked among top schools in the country including the public and mission run schools, were not listed on the ranking.
According to the Education Department, private schools are money making institutions. They do not function/operate on government subsidies and they are entirely businesses who make profit. Thus the department has not published the ranking as this will promote their businesses and undermines the operations of public schools. However, the ranking of their schools will be given through their normal Results information sheets known as the Camera Copy 3 or CP3.
