 The External Affairs Manager will support the Corporate Affairs Manager to build a strong network, enhance and maintain a strong presence with the Government and its regulatory bodies.

He/she will gather information and intelligence on Government thinking and on issues concerning the alcohol industry, conduct research, analyse information and prepare papers to the Government and other relevant bodies.

Plan, develop and execute strategies for effective outreach to tackle industry issues to meet mutually acceptable outcomes.

Main Duties will include:

  • Provide relevant feedback to the Corporate Affairs Manager on strategies to develop, enhance and sustain relationships with the Government and relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop strategies to build relationships with relevant Government authorities and regulatory bodies to advance organisation’s interests.
  • Represent the organisation’s position on Government policy or would-be-policy to relevant Government authorities, trade bodies and stakeholders so that the organisation’s interests are advanced.
  • Plan and implement strategies to promote point of view to manage local legislators and regulators.
  • Spearhead the Team’s function in planning and organising engagement programs and prepare papers on industry issues to be presented to the Government (i.e…National Budget Submissions).
  • Develop strategies, position papers to minimise any potential negative effect due to changes in excise duty and import tax regimes, contraband and counterfeit issues and other regulations and rulings affecting business interests.
  • Monitor, analyse and interpret developments in politics and Government policies and advise Line Manager on how these trends may impact the organisation’s business interests.
  • Alert the Corporate Affairs Manager on any proposed changes to law or policies that Government is contemplating which will have an impact on our business.
  • Manage the organisation’s most high level, complex, controversial or critical Government relationships and facilitate meetings between SP Brewery’s management and Government or regulatory officials.

Minimum Qualification & Experience:

  • University degree in Economics, Business Economics, Commerce, Law, Political Science, Computer Science
  • 5 years of experience in Government and/or the Private Sector
  • English is a must and other local language a plus
  • Advance computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good understanding of Government and corporate sector relationships
