Singura’s comments came after Bulolo MP Sam Basil recently presented four new 10-seater Toyota LandCruisers to police in the district.
Wau police received one, Bulolo Mobile Squad 15 received one, the third was given to Mumeng police and the fourth to Bulolo police.
Singura said a business house in Wau also would hand over another 10-seater Toyota LandCruiser to Wau police in the coming weeks.
He said one of the new police vehicles that was given to Wau police had been installed with GPS and that was paving the way for other police vehicles to have GPS installed.
He also issued a stern warning to policemen in the district to use the vehicles carefully, adding that anyone (police personnel) caught misusing police vehicles would be suspended and charged.
Wau Police Station commander Sr Insp Leo Kaikas said the vehicle would help significantly with law and order awareness and enforcement
“I will be strict on how the vehicle was to be used. Users cannot smoke or chew betel nut or even to use it to go buy beer,” he said.
Kaikas said police needed to establish its own police response unit so that those in the other sectors were not distracted from their duties.
