Job : IT Support Officer

 Laga Industries Limited in Papua New Guinea  currently has a vacancy in the Finance and Administration Department and is looking for highly motivated IT Support Officer based in Lae.


VACANT POSITION: IT SUPPORT OFFICER

The IT Technical Support Officer role is to ensure proper computer operations for end users, perform hardware/software troubleshooting, installation, setup, and configuration. Provide day-to-day technical support to all end users and systems monitoring and management. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostics and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give hands-on help at the desktop level or via remote support applications/services. The IT Technical Support Officer provides the 1st level of Support to the end-users. The IT Technical Support Officer also supports all applications running in Windows. This role reports to Senior IT Specialist.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides IT Technical Support for PC Systems hardware and software configuration, diagnosis and troubleshooting
  • Providing Technical Support for any Software (Utility) issues
  • Providing Technical Support for Windows 7 and Windows 10 Operating Systems
  • Providing Technical Support for Microsoft Office 2010/2013/2016/2019
  • Providing Technical Support for any Windows issues
  • Configuration of Standalone or Network Printers and user support
  • Configure email and scanning on Multi-Function Printers
  • Check and perform hardware diagnostics on all newly issued PCs/Laptops.
  • Attend to network cabling and power issues on sites
  • Run and terminate CAT6 cable
  • Configure and install PC/Laptops on site
  • Ability to troubleshoot printers, desktops, laptops, and servers at a 1st level Support
  • Responsible in outsourcing Printer and PC parts
  • Create User Accounts (Active Directory, Email (MS Exchange), Printers and ERP Pronto)
  • Update clients connecting to Symantec Endpoint Manager (SEPM)
  • Install SEP antivirus and update virus definition files for all end users
  • Update Software on PCs and Laptops when required
  • Responsible for ensuring the equipment is properly set up and effectively used.
  • Work on Projects as required
  • Responsible in making sure SLA’s are met in dockets assigned by the Supervisor or 2IC.
  • Ensure all tasks allocated by the Help Desk are completed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor and Manage all network connectivity and links
  • Complete All Site Audits as required

Requirements for the position:


  • Degree/Diploma in Computing
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in any IT Field
  • Preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Membership of a relevant professional body
