The 16th Asia Pacific telecommunity (APT) Policy and Regulation Forum for Pacific is an important dialogue bringing digital transformation in the Pacific Region.
Papua New Guinea’s Minister for ICT Hon Timothy Masiu during his keynote address reiterated that PRFP-16 is an important to continue dialogue from the first ever Pacific ICT Ministerial Dialogue held recently in Port Moresby from 28th-29th August.

“Inline with the same theme “Smart Pacific, One Voice – Creating a Digital Future together for the Pacific,” this dialogue embarks on a transformative journey of unity, collaboration, and digitally empowered Pacific,” Minister Masiu said.
“APT aims to develop ICT in our region, to advance our region’s interest, and keep our region prosperous.”
The event took place on the September 30 and will end today September 1 at the Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby.
Minister Masiu also extend his appreciation to the National Information Communications Technology Authority (NICTA) for hosting this important forum which covered some of the most important topics.
The forum discussed Accelerating Digital Transformation in the Pacific, Facilitating Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Developing Digital Infrastructure and Enabling Digital Islands, Digital Security and Trust, Strengthening Partnership for Disaster Management, Digital Capacity Building and Skills Development, let us approach each of these main topics with the spirit of collaboration, open-mindedness, and the collective will to shape a future that aligns with our shared aspirations.
“The results from the discussions will not only help to set the direction for the digital transformation of the area, but they will also strengthen the case for both APT and the ITU to give the Pacific region more attention.”
“Pacific Countries and Territories have unique challenges, compounded by our isolation in the vast Pacific Ocean, coupled with the climate change and the natural disasters we face, and we believe digital technologies can help us mitigate these challenges.”
He said this dialogue resurrects the commitment to speak with one voice – a voice that resonates not only within our region but echoes across international and regional forums, advocating for our shared interests and concerns.
