The Department of ICT yesterday formalised its partnership with PNG DataCo Limited through the signing of a Master Service Agreement (MSA), witnessed by ICT Minister Timothy Masiu. The agreement establishes PNG DataCo as the government’s main implementation partner for digital government services.
As part of the agreement, PNG DataCo will manage hosting services for public sector systems under the Government Cloud (GovCloud). This includes issuing official .gov.pg domain names, setting up standardised government websites, and ensuring cloud services are hosted securely on government-leased infrastructure. Public servants will be provided Microsoft 365 accounts aligned to the government domain.
The MSA also mandates centralised electronic data storage, requiring agencies to back up information in the Central Electronic Data Repository. This initiative aims to protect government data and ensure continuity in case of data loss.
Additionally, the rollout of the Government Private Network (GPN) will see agencies communicating through a single secure network. Minister Masiu said the agreement marks a major milestone in implementing the Digital Government Plan 2023–2027, highlighting the importance of partnerships in achieving a secure and standardised public sector digital environment
