How to Protect Your MiBank Card From Fraud and Reactivate It After Deactivation

MiBank in Papua New Guinea  is introducing additional security measures to protect customers from card fraud following recent cases involving fraudulent card activity.

As part of the new security measure, MiBank says customers with high account balances will have their cards deactivated from Thursday, August 20, 2026. Customers whose cards are deactivated will need to reactivate them before they can use the cards again.

How to Reactivate Your MiBank Card


Customers can reactivate their cards through MiCash Mobile Banking or the MiCash Mobile Application.

Option 1: Reactivate Using *678#

Follow these steps:


  1. Dial *678# on your mobile phone.
  2. Enter your MiCash PIN.
  3. Select My Account.
  4. Select Activate Card.
  5. Verify your card details.
  6. Confirm the activation.
  7. Option 2: Reactivate Through the MiCash Mobile App


You can also use the MiCash Mobile Application:

  1. Open the MiCash Mobile App.
  2. Log in to your account.
  3. Enter your PIN.
  4. Open the Cards menu.
  5. Verify your card details.
  6. Select Activate to complete the process.

MiBank is urging customers to remain vigilant and protect their card information.

Never share your Card PIN with anyone, including someone claiming to be a MiBank employee. Your PIN should remain confidential.

If your card is lost or you believe your card details may have been compromised, you can stop the card through *678# MiCash Mobile Banking or the MiCash Mobile Application.
