PNG's Bulolo District to connect to the World via Internet

PNG's'Bulolo MP and Information Communications Technology and Energy minister Sam Basil is now targeting the rollout of internet services to be established in schools within Bulolo district.

Mr Basil said the district is now into discussions with service providers that will be engaged to spearhead the establishment of computer labs for schools, including internet access for the students to do research.

He said the rollout of this program will cover various high and secondary schools, including primary and other government institutions in the district.

“We are doing this to allow students to have access to crucial research materials online only, while all other illegal sites will be firewalled,” said Mr Basil.

He said the installation of the routers will only give access to encyclopedia research engines whether offline or online so that the students can do their research work using these vital information stored for educational purposes only.

“We will make sure that the district pays data for the rollout of this internet service for all the institutions so that in return, these will enhance the learning of students,” said Mr Basil.
