Westpac bank App Application to improve security, ease banking

WESTPAC Bank customers will now be able to do their banking using an application on their mobile, this will improve security and make banking easier.
Westpac PNG chief executive officer Brett Hooker said during the launch of the application in Port Moresby on Friday that the most advanced banking app had arrived in PNG, with Westpac releasing its new app to the Google Play and Apple stores.

He said the Westpac PNG app offered smartphone users a variety of self-serve banking transactions, meaning they could access their personal accounts whenever and wherever it suited them with an easy to use digital app format.
“The app is intuitive and offers the highest levels of convenience and security,” Hooker said.
“We’ve based the design on Westpac Australia’s “Westpac Live” app, which won a number of awards when it was released for its simplicity and usability.”
The Westpac PNG app can be used on any smartphone or tablet which has an Android operating system of 4.4 or more or an iOS of 10.1 or more.
Features of the app that will benefit Westpac’s personal banking customers include:

  • Unlimited balance enquiries and checking of transaction history via a detailed mini-statement that includes transaction descriptions;
  • easy and fast payment of bills, as well as transfer of funds between accounts, with the app keeping a history of payments so it is easy to pay the same person or biller again; and,
  • Ability to recharge your own or another person’s mobile phone, instantaneously without the use of vouchers.

“Security is of course people’s main concern when moving to digital banking, so we’ve included additional features to help us protect our customers against fraud,” Hooker said.
“This includes enhanced PIN security and two factor authentication whereby a code is sent your mobile to confirm certain transactions.
He urged customers to download the Westpac PNG app and enjoy the convenience it offered, with more features to be released in future.
He said customers needed to have a transactional account with Westpac PNG, be registered for Mobile Banking (*149#), needed to have a smart phone or tablet with Android operating system of 4.4 or iOS 10.1 or more, Mobile data or Wi-Fi. “If you’re not already registered for mobile banking, call 322 0888 and the Westpac team will get you signed up over the phone,” Hooker said.
He said people needed to download the Westpac PNG app, rather than the Australian version which appeared in stores as “Westpac app”.
