PNG Govt to digitalize Higher Education sector

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape has  announced that the his government  has approved a K8.8 million investment for the digitalization of the Higher Education Sector in PNG.

These funds will allow for existing service providers in PNG to undertake customized systems design for the development and roll-out of the National Higher and Technical Education Management System and e-libraries, through the i-PNG Higher Education Sector Initiative.

The e-libraries will provide customized teaching and learning resources, fully supporting academic and technical program delivery.

Multi-disciplinary teaching, learning and research will facilitate a modern, relevant, quality learning experience.

The initiative will also enable standardized management systems for improved HEI governance, financial management, student management and administration; and most importantly, it will provide graduates with 21st Century Skills to participate in a competitive workforce.

D-HERST Secretary Professor Fr. Jan Czuba says the launch of HELP and steady roll-out of the i-PNG Higher Education Sector initiative mark PNG’s advancement at the forefront of digitalization in the higher education delivery.

Higher Education Minister Nick Kuman says the advancement will provide greater access and quality in higher education.
