PNG Businesses, companies and the general public now have access to information on various Trademarks, Patents and industrial designs after the launching of the Intellectual Property Office's search engine.

This platform can be accessed by direct link online similar to Investment Promotion Authority's online registry system says IPA Managing Director Clarence Hoot.

The PNG Intellectual Property search engine is a data base that provides access to Trademarks, patents, brands and Industrial designs on file in PNG.

It also provides information for right owners to protect their intellectual property and applicants to monitor the progress of their applications.

Mr. Hoot says it also allows transparency within IPO PNG in terms of executing each progress for applications within expected time frames.

Registrar for Intellectual Property rights Amelia Na'aru says the search engine is convenient as the search is free whereas a fee of K50 is charged if a user goes to IPA.

She says IPA is encouraging people to use the technology to their advantage.
