INFORMATION & COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
The Department of Information & Communication Technology Services (ICTS) manages, supports and promotes effective and efficient use of ICTS for administration, academic and other research activities. ICTS is committed to delivering quality customer service and technical solutions in the academic and administrative environment of the PNGUOT community.
ICT Support Officers x 2
The Support Officers will be responsible for ensuring that all Customer Service operations are rendered according to established standard to serve both the staff and students achieving their respective goals. These include making sure that all student queries and computer laboratories are functional at all times.
Key duties & responsibilities include:
- Systems Analysis and Design in relation to detailed development and maintenance of computer systems in collaboration with ICTS staff and Administrative Management and staff
- Ensure students printing systems are operational at all times during the academic period
- Perform, Plan & Monitor performance of students computer labs
- Ensure staff and students computing systems upgrades in tune with global changes.
- Recommend or provide guidance on selection of appropriate software and equipment for academic needs.
- Acquire and Maintain up-to-date knowledge of a broad range of utility and personal productivity software supporting clerical and office-based activities, including operating systems, utility software, data communications and network management software suitable for the support of extensive, integrated computing network facilities serving the wide spectrum of user requirements typical in the tertiary education sector
- Provide advice, specialist systems development and consultancy for Information & Communications Technology Services to clients.
- Provide in-house hardware and software systems training for staff.
The successful candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Computing or related IT degree and must have at least some years of experience in relevant field especially in an academic institution of higher learning. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, must be able to take initiative and be proactive, disciplined, trusted and willing to learn and be competent.
SALARY:
- Computer Operator I PGK 15, 733 - PGK 19, 229 per annum
- Computer Operator II PGK 20, 416 - PGK 24, 953 per annum
- Senior Computer Operator PGK 24, 089 - PGK 29, 443 per annum
- (Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
