TWENTY-FIVE primary school teachers from Moresby South have done an advanced training course in information and communications technology at the IT Job Training Centre.
Moresby South MP Justin Tkatchenko who funded the course said there was a need for teachers to improve their competency and capacity level with modern technology.
“Improving teachers’ competency and capacity through training and knowledge enhancement courses are very important for them to deliver quality teaching and education to our children,” he said.
“We will continue the partnership (with the IT Job Training Centre) to improve capacity and competency of our teachers in Moresby South,” Tkatchenko said.
He gave the 25 teachers a laptop each.
Centre director Sunny Sun said they were inspired by Tkatchenko’s commitment to the people and will continue to provide such trainings to teachers not only to assist them in teaching but also for their career development.
“As a competency based training institution, our training to the teachers is not only on how to use the computer, but most importantly is to emphasise on how to use the computer to enhance teach,” Sun said.
