BMOBILE RediSIM users will enjoy 4GLTE network capabilities as a result of a phased upgrade undertaken by the company.
It said in a statement that the upgrade was being implemented in three phases that commenced yesterday which saw:
- Port Moresby and Lae residents who use a REDiSIM (75/76XX XXXX) and have a 4G-compatible device having immediately accessed the 4G network nationwide yesterday;
- After Jan 6, 2021, the rest of PNG REDiSIM users will begin to get access to the 4G network; and,
- By the end of January 2021, all REDiSIM (75/76XX XXXX) customers nationwide will have access to the 4GLTE network. Interim chief executive officer Anthony Pakakota said that this core network integration was part of the integral efforts and works towards achieving the merger and consolidation of the mobile business as part of the state owned enterprise Telco reform directives for the Kumul Telikom Holdings as set by the national government to have one mobile network. “Bmobile and its sister company Telikom have worked tirelessly over the past 12 months with its network suppliers, to enable this delivery of consolidating and integrating the Telikom-built 4GLTE network with the bmobile network,” he said. “It now allows bmobile’s REDiSIM customers to access and experience 4G speeds. “What a wonderful 2020 Christmas gift for PNG on the back of a very challenging 2020. “Bmobile thanks its loyal customers at this time, and looks forward to improving the extent and quality of its reach over the coming months.”
