The Papua New Guinea Government is progressing its digital transformation journey with an inaugural workshop in Port Moresby  for all digital transformation officers.

The officers represent respective agencies in the public service and will drive the digital transformation agenda.

PNG's Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Timothy Masiu said work is earnestly underway to achieve the government's agenda after he brought the Digital Government Act 2022 to Parliament in April this year.

He said the appointment of digital transformation officers, setting up of Public Service ICT Steering Committee, and the Public Service ICT Audit Committee are keys to driving the agenda under the Act.

Mr. Masiu said the Act will also see the setup of National Cyber Security Centre, secure storage network of data and services, and a central e-government portal.

He said the Act will ensure government systems are streamlined and fully integrated.

Minister Masiu said the Act will be presented comprehensively in the upcoming Parliament session.
