Nine teachers’ colleges in Papua New Guinea have received a boost to their information and communication technology (ICT) departments.
They are Dauli Teachers’ College, Enga Teachers’ College, Melanesian Nazarene Teachers’ College, Holy Trinity College, Balob Teachers’ College, Madang Teachers’ College, Gaulim Teachers’ College and St Peter Chanel Teachers’ College.
The Australian government in partnership with PNG Government provided a new computer lab for each college, connection of wireless internet, donation of tablets and the installation of an eGranary digital library containing 32 million electronic books, journals, educational video clips and various teaching and learning content.
This support, worth over K2.5 million, is aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning in the provinces.
The ICT upgrade will enable teachers’ colleges to have a better internet connection and will ease the flow of information and data to policymakers in Port Moresby.
